Hearing one’s inner wisdom

On the homepage under the tab “The Magic Note” there is the statement “The universe cries for what could be, the choices that went wrong. It cries for those who pass this way and didn’t awake to sing their song. These notes provide insights on how to be awake to hear our song.

Humankind throughout the ages has created what we call art in many forms. Art is a creation of the human spirit enabled by the knowledge and skills of the artist. The artist is able to hear the magic notes of their inner wisdom and give it form. Inner wisdom can be viewed as a quiet inner voice that guides our outer actions. The challenges of daily life result in mental noise and personal stress that hinders our ability to hear our personal inner wisdom and draw on it as a resource in guiding our actions. Many people choose to spend time doing yoga, tai chi or meditation to help still the outer noise and enable them to be awake to their inner wisdom. Others seek forms of recreation in nature for the same purpose. Ernest Hemingway used to write on the seashore. He said he was most creative, immersed in nature with the roar of the waves masking outer interruptions to his creative process. Our ability to live and act in our daily lives where there are many sources of mental noise and still hear and recognize our inner wisdom is a fundamental capability that facilitates our personal growth and enhances our ability to lead a happy, healthy, and fruitful life.

I recently read an example of a person’s life journey choice in which a young woman had the choice to either go on to a prestigious college and earn a higher degree to further her professional journey or go on a mission to serve in India. Her intellect called her to the first choice and her inner wisdom to the second. She followed her inner wisdom and later in life reflected how important and valuable the choice was to experience the mission in India. The ability to hear and follow the guidance of our spiritual wisdom applies to personal choices. Examples throughout our lives include who we choose to play with as a child, or as an adult, who do we feel drawn to spend time with, choices on our careers, and the many purposes we seek to achieve in our daily lives. There are many moments in life where we have to make a choice, and our intellectual wisdom and spiritual wisdom are not in harmon. It is in these moments we are called to hear, listen and choose whether or not to be guided by our inner spiritual wisdom.
